Artist of the Month

This friendly competition is open to AAG members who attend the Monthly General Meeting, on the third Tuesday of each month from September through May (no meeting in December).

Members are invited to bring one piece of art to the meeting to enter into the competition. Attending members vote for one piece of art. Each Artist of the Month winner receives a ribbon, a cash prize of $25, and the opportunity to compete for Artist of the Year. Once an artist receives the Artist of the Month distinction they are ineligible to enter for the remainder of the year, until the May meeting.

Winning works return for the May meeting, where members vote for artist of the year. The Artist of the Year wins a cash prize of $100.

All artists are celebrated at a show and reception for their work at the September Meeting.

Rules:
-Artwork must arrive by 5:20pm.
-Participating artists must be members of AAG.
-2D artwork must be wired for hanging and no larger than 40 inches on the largest side.
-3D artwork must be installed by the artist.
-Artwork is subject to the conditions of the Hold Harmless Agreement used in all AAG exhibits. Ask the Artist of the Month Director for a copy of the Agreement.
-The Artist of the Year winner is ineligible to compete in the following year’s Artist of the Month competition.

Artist of the Year:
This annual competition is open to the year’s winners of the Artist of the Month. Artist of the Month winners will display 3 pieces of art for the Artist of the Year competition. The winning piece for Artist of the Month should be included. If the winning piece is sold or unavailable. a high-quality reproduction may be substituted. Members vote for the Artist of the Year. The Winner is ineligible to enter the competition the following year.

Artist of the Month/Year Annual Exhibition:
Every September the Artist of the Year and the Artists of the Month are celebrated in an exhibition and reception at the September meeting. Each artist is asked to submit 3 pieces of art for exhibit for a few weeks in September. More information about this show will be sent to the participating artists.
