Mano-a-Mono
Mono-Printing with Joe Ray
10 am to 2 pm
$50 Members/$60 Non-Members
$12 Supply Fee
This mono-print printmaking class focuses on stencils and textures which are created, inked, and transferred on to paper. While there will be no actual press utilized for printing, we will be using brayers (hand rollers), and other objects to transfer the images to paper.
This process will encourage participants to be creative by using their own imagery (plus, I will give suggestions for creating stencil images as well) and utilize color to explore textures and patterns. Prior art experience is not necessary, but an open mind and willingness to explore is. Students will be asked to bring paper for creating stencils (synthetic papers such as Yupo, etc., tag board, etc.). Also, students are encouraged to bring colored pencils, and other drawing instruments to incorporate with the monoprints, as well as X-acto knives, and/or scissors.
Water based printing inks will be supplied, as will 9” x 12” sheets of paper for a $12 supply fee payable to the instructor the day of the workshop. Students are welcome to bring additional papers they wish to print on.
In addition to creating art during the workshop, I will be recommending techniques in which participants can continue to work on their images for the final product.
