Encaustics with Cynthia Dunn-Selph

Encaustic in Latin means “to burn in” and is the process of painting with beeswax, with and without pigment, that is melted and fused to a hard surface. This ancient art form is seeing a resurgence of appeal because of its unique look, texture, compatibility with other mediums, and for use with mixed media. In this hands-on class we will discover what tools will get you started and learn the basic techniques to explore this diverse medium.

You do not need to be an “artist” to work with encaustics, just a readiness to explore and create! Class size is limited to eight.

Cynthia Dunn-Selph is a life-long photographer, painter, and mixed media artist who has exhibited and taught in California and Arizona. She is currently a board member of the Arizona Artist Guild and a member of Ground Floor Artists in Surprise. Her work can be seen on her website alldunnart.com, and on Facebook and Instagram at All Dunn Art

All tools and materials will be provided for a supply fee of $45 paid to the instructor the day of class.
