The Arizona Military Museum, a nonprofit organization located at Papago Park Military “Reservation in Phoenix, Invites emerging and established artists to submit artwork for our juried group show “Vietnam War Service, People and Experience” of art that the veteran’s service, the people, the experience, relating to the Vietnam War. The jurors will be looking for work capturing the positive experience of those who served to defend the people of South Vietnam.

The consequences of America’s recent wars of choice have been exposed, and now the Vietnams War’s Mission to prevent the spread of Communism into all of Southeast Asia has become more understandable. The Vietnam War was fought to truly defend the freedom of the South Vietnamese. Art can capture the emotion, history, beauty, and tragedy. It can tell stories that prose and poetry cannot tell us about the largest group of living veterans–Vietnam veterans.

Located in the old Arsenal Building at the Papago Park Military Reservation at 5600 East McDowell in Phoenix, audiences and patrons are cordially invited to attend an art exhibition opening at the museum at 7:00 on October 28, 2014.

Accepted artwork includes 3d and 3d work that can be hung on the wall and does not exceed 3″ depth, 12″ in by 48″. Work should not exceed 20 lbs. All accepted work must have wire on the back and be ready to hang. Artwork that is displayed in the exhibition will meet the guidelines, and compliment the mission of the Arizona Military Museum. This is an educational venue focused on education the public about the service of veterans of the Vietnam War.

There are no application fees . Every submission is appreciated and will be seriously considered by a jury of arts professionals and Vietnam veterans. Due to limited space, not all artwork will be accepted. Please do not call for results. Artists  will be notified by email.

While the museum is a secure building with multiple locked entrances, a roving security patrol in a fenced military reservation, and a staff present during events, the Arizona Military Museum is not liable for any damage or theft that may occur to any person or property. Artist may insure his or her own artwork, as desired. In the event of sale, all proceeds go to the artist.

How to apply: Application to include:

1. CD or email submission of files in jpg format, limited to 3 art pieces, with each image labeled with the artists’s name and title or art. We recommend submitted images to have a resolution of 72 dpi.

2. Text file with:
a. Your contact info.
b. Artist name as you would like it to appear on labels.
c. Titles of individual submissions
d. Dimensions (HxWxD) for each art piece submitted
e. Media for each art piece submitted
f. Sale price or MFS for each art piece

Please do not send actual works until notified.

3. No Entry fee required.
