$50 Members/$60 Non-Members

In this workshop Annette will demonstrate her technique for painting expressive watercolor
florals. Working from a provided photo reference, attendees will paint a garden rose floral study.
Focus will be on seeing value, using rich color, and loose brushwork to simply describe roses
and their foliage. Individual attention will be provided for all students throughout the day.

Paper: 140lb. cold press or rough Arches or Saunders Waterford watercolor paper. Two
quarter sheets (15×11). Painting on a watercolor block the approximate size of a 1/4 sheet is
fine too. Scrap watercolor paper to play around with color and value.

Covered palette. I use a handheld palette.
2 water containers, margarine tub size or larger.
2B pencils, pencil sharpener, or mechanical pencil.
Old bath towels for wiping brushes. Bath towels or dish towels are more absorbent than paper
towels, and less wasteful.
Tissues for blotting paint.
Brushes: #12 and # 8 synthetic or sable rounds, 1/2” flat synthetic, 3/4” angular sable blend, #
4 rigger synthetic or sable. Synthetics and synthetic blends are less costly than sable brushes.
Small spray bottle.
Support large enough to hold a quarter sheet of watercolor paper. I use Gatorboard measuring
21×11.5.
Medium binder clips or bull clips to attach paper to the support.
Kneaded eraser.
Small cellulose sponge for clean up.
