Workshop Description

Soft Pastel is an exciting, tactile medium that can give a rich color experience seldom seen in other mediums.

The goal of this workshop is to give courage and success to all participants, regardless of where they are with their painting experience.

We will use mark-making combined with layering of colors within a limited palette to explore getting accustomed to the feel of pastels in our hands, then move on to simple experiments with still-life objects and outdoor scenes in this 6-hour workshop.

Learning about the properties of different types of pastels and papers makes a big difference in what is achievable.

My belief as an Artist and Lifelong Art Teacher is that we are all born as Creators. The challenge is to find the way to express that creativity, which is most natural for the individual, rather than trying to fit into someone else’s idea of how something should be expressed.
