Creating Joy: An Introduction to Silk Painting with MJ Okawa

In this three-hour workshop, participants will learn the basics of applying resist and colorful dyes to silk while creating their own original 10” × 10” painting. Each finished silk painting will be completed and then wrapped around a new canvas substrate for a beautiful, ready-to-display finish. No previous painting experience is necessary.
Supply fee: $20 paid to the instructor
The supply fee includes the silk, 10” × 10” canvas substrate, dyes, resist, applicators, and all other materials needed to complete the project including archival varnish. Participants do not need to bring any supplies.
Optional handmade red oak frames will be available for purchase for $50 each. The frames are available in light and dark finishes and provide an elegant finishing touch to the artwork.
