Watercolor with John Erwin

We will go over strokes and techniques used in creating interesting textures with a different subject each month. Great for beginners, fun for more advanced painters. You don’t want to miss this exciting workshop.
John Erwin is a juried member of the Arizona Artist Guild, the Arizona Watercolor Association, and a Signature member of the Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona. He is a co-founder of the Pinnacle Peak Painters critique group, and a member of the 22×30 Critique Group. He has taught for over 40 years and now teaches watercolor, sketching, and printmaking.

Feel free to bring your usual painting materials
Recommended colors (tube paints preferred):
- Cadmium red
- Cadmium yellow
- Ultramarine blue
- Cobalt blue
- Alizarin Crimson
- Sap green
- Yellow ochre
- Burnt umber
- White or white gouacheWatercolor paper.
John will be using a quarter sheet of cold press paper for the demonstration. Use the size you enjoy the most.Brushes: Synthetic brushes are fine.
You may need a #6 and a #10 round
You may also need a one-inch flat watercolor brushPalette: You may wish to purchase a plastic palette with a lid. This will hold your paint and give you an area to mix your paints.
Additional materials: - a #2 pencil and a white eraser
- a small spritzer bottle
- paper towels
- an old toothbrush
- water containers
- a support for your paper that is waterproof. (examples; A piece of plexiglass, Gatorboard, or a piece of plywood that has been coated.) Your support
- should be at least 15in X 12in.
- a sketch book for ideas and notes
- masking tape
- an old plastic credit card for scraping
- A small bottle of India ink
