This workshop is ideal for those who want to experience the beautiful medium of soft pastels. Good for complete beginners or those of you with intermediate experience. We will study flowers. Experimenting with a watercolor under painting and playing with hard and soft edges, we will create beautiful impressionistic paintings. We will cover composition, the importance of value selection, and then dive into color selection.

This is a fun, lively, learning experience, so I invite students not to be too precious about the piece they produce in the class. The point is to learn some skills to be able to apply them to your own practice.

 

Supply List

●      Artworks will be ready to take home after the class.

●      Pastels do create dust, so please come prepared with an apron and dust mask if necessary. Bring gloves if that is your preference.

●      I will supply paper and sundries, and have some student-grade pastels, for a supply fee of $5 per person.

●      Microfiber to keep hands clean.

●      Please bring a bold flower, something with good color, and a small ball jar to hold it in.
