Using fluid acrylics, we will explore layering and glazing techniques. Marilyn is a well known mixed media artist and teacher that will facilitate how to work with acrylic glazes to create a wonderfully layered creation using stencils and other techniques.

Supplies:

You can work on canvas, or wood, or watercolor paper that has been covered with gesso.

Fluid acrylics. Golden is a great brand and you can buy the one ounce containers, but Blick also has fluid acrylics that are good and cheaper. Make sure they are not opaque.

If you choose a warm palette these colors work best (purchase only what you like):
You can also use a cool palette, but the blues and purples aren’t as transparent
Indian Yellow
Permanent Red Oxide
Fluorescent Yellow
Florescent Orange
Pyro Orange
Hansa Yellow
Nickel Azo Yellow
Nickel Azo Gold
Trans Oxide Red
Transparent Red Iron Oxide
Quinocrodone Magenta
Any of the quinacridones, any of the Pthalos
White and black tube paints
Acrylic glazing medium or gloss medium
Optional are acrylic paint pens
Foam brushes in various sizes
Stencils if you have them (I’ll bring some)
An old bath towel
Paper towels
Water container
