The Arizona Artists Guild (AAG), founded in 1928, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization led by volunteers dedicated to providing and promoting opportunities in the visual arts including exhibitions, educational and outreach programs.

Membership is made up of professional as well as aspiring artists working in a variety of media.

Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, September through April, at 7:00 pm. Pre-meeting critique sessions begin at 6:00 p.m.

Beginning January 17, 2006, regular meetings will be held at the Sunrise United Methodist Church - 19234 N. 7th Ave. in Phoenix (4 blocks south of Loop 101, near the AAG-owned property where our new building will be constructed.)

Meetings feature an art related program (demonstrations, slides, lectures, etc.), preceded by a short business / informational segment. An artist-of-the-month is selected by meeting participants.

Programs offered by the AAG include member exhibitions, plein air sessions, Guild School of Art workshops, college scholarships, various community-outreach activities and “fun”d-raising events.

Messege from the President

AAG is beginning our 80th year of service to artists and the city. This organization is made up of wonderful, talented artists and supporters of the arts. As this 80th year begins, it seems appropriate to revisit our goals as an organization.

The Arizona Artists Guild is a non-profit organization, led by volunteers, dedicated to providing and promoting opportunities in the visual arts. To this end, the organization is committed to the following:

  • Awarding scholarships to Arizona students
  • Sponsoring classes through The Guild School of Art
  • Teaching classes to people with disabilities
  • Providing after school art enrichment experiences
  • Offering critique sessions to improve skills
  • Supplying judges for local, state and national art exhibits
  • Providing a voice for civic matters relating to the arts
  • Availing a meeting space for other community arts organizations
  • Continuing a long-standing tradition of art leadership in the state since 1928
  • Maintaining a cadre of instructors for schools and community

With the construction of our new building during this 2008-2009 year, our facilities will allow for a consistent location for meetings, workshops, instruction, exhibitions and participation for current members and will encourage the growth of our organization.

I look forward to working with our talented and experienced board members and participating AAG members to carry out these goals and continue the quality of leadership so ably demonstrated in past years. Since we are all volunteers, it is important that we share our talents and ideas to make this an even better organization. With your help, this will be an amazing year!
